House of Europe.

With EU support the House of Europe opens its Mobile Pavilion — a temporary "embassy" in Mykolaiv

From June 25 to July 18, 2021, on Soborna Square in the centre of Mykolaiv, the House of Europe programme will hold events that will present EU opportunities and programmes for culture and creative industries, education, social entrepreneurship, health, media, and youth work to residents of the city and the region. For this, the House of Europe team brought the Mobile Pavilion to the city - a transportable multifunctional structure designed by a group of young Ukrainian architects.

From Tuesday to Sunday, the Pavilion will be open for consultations on grants, career opportunities, residencies, and exchanges offered by EU institutions, EU Member States and the United Kingdom. Every Friday and on the weekends, the managers of the House of Europe will present various opportunities in person. Lectures, panels, and workshops by Ukrainian and EU experts will feature inspiring content and skills. Open-air film screenings on a big screen, concerts by Ukrainian performers, and DJ sets round off these days.

"The House of Europe programmes, other European Union programmes, and independent initiatives from EU countries are now opening their doors for Ukrainians, no matter from which region, whether from big cities or small villages. Online or offline programmes, learning and career opportunities, how to get funding for your project idea, startup, or organisation – here in the House of Europe Mobile Pavilion, you have a chance to learn about all these EU opportunities." commented Rémi Duflot, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.

"The Pavilion itself and the space surrounding it will always stay accessible so that anyone can spend time on the stairs of the amphitheatre and near it. With its open, inclusive urban design, the Pavilion will be a point of attraction for locals and guests of the city, revive public life, connect people from different backgrounds, and create an atmosphere that will promote the emergence of new projects and ideas."said Yevhen Homonyuk, coordinator of the mobile pavilion in Mykolaiv, member of Platform MyART.

This summer and autumn, after the end of the programme in Mykolayiv, the Pavilion will visit two more Ukrainian cities: Kamianets-Podilskyi (in July and August) and Ivano-Frankivsk (in September). The programme of the Mobile Pavilion in Mykolayiv and other cities can be found at https://pavilion.houseofeurope.org.ua.

"This is a symbolic moment: The House of Europe – which is so much more than a house: a multi-faceted programme to connect people, to share information, to catalyse learning and collaboration, now largely online – this same House of Europe now materialises in an actual, physical house: the Mobile Pavilion. But it wouldn't be of its kind if it was not a house on the move, travelling the country, a structure that flexibly adapts to its surroundings, a space open for anyone to enter, to climb on, to interact with. House of Europe and its Mobile Pavilion are not a house – they are the people that populate it." Christian Diemer, Head of the House of Europe programme, commented.

Admission to the event is free with some event to require mandatory pre-registration. All House of Europe events in Mykolayiv, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and Ivano-Frankivsk will take into account incumbent anti-pandemic requirements to combat the spread of COVID-19.
